Casino Terms "Q"

Quarter Bet: In the game of roulette, a bet on four numbers, also known as a corner bet or square bet and pays 8:1 odds.

Quick Pick: A keno ticket where numbers are randomly generated for the player at the player’s request, same as Kwik-Pik.


Casino Terms "R"

Rack: A location on the table where the house chips are kept.

Rails: Refers to the grooved area of the craps table where player’s chips are kept when they are not in play.

Railway: Another name used by players for the baccarat variation Chemin de fer (which means railway), you cannot bet on Player or Bank, (Punto or Banco) you must bet on one or the other. The casino does not have any direct involvement in the bets placed as players wager amongst them.

Raise: To increase the size of the bet in the pot.

Random Number Generator: A technology used in both slot and video poker machines and even keno, whereas all results of a reel spin, hand or number selection is the result of a software program called a Random Number Generator (RNG) which is also referred to as "virtual reel" technology. The RNG generates random numbers constantly and only when the bet button or lever is pulled does the most recent randomly generated number is used, this means all results are totally random, and there are no tricks or secrets to winning at slots, keno or video poker* other than luck. * Video poker is partial exception to this rule, even though the cards are randomly drawn, the player has an option to discard certain cards before the final cards are dealt, thus increasing the chance of a win.

Red Bet: In the game of roulette, a bet that the next winning number will be on the colour red. Pays even money.

Reels: Every slot machine has either 3-reels or 5-reels with symbol combinations imprinted; the winning combinations are randomly selected by the RNG.

Roll: In the game of craps, refers to both as a single throw of the dice and the completion of a series of rolls in which the shooter sevens out.

Royal Flush: The highest hand in poker and consists of the following cards: A K Q J 10 all of the same suit in any order.

Rule Card: Refers to a card in which the rules of play for baccarat and chemin de fer are printed.

Running Count: In blackjack refers to the count from the beginning of the deck which is updated by the value of the point count after each hand.
