Casino Terms "I"

Inside Bet: In the game of roulette, a bet placed anywhere on any number the inside of the layout including 0 and 00.

Insurance: In the game of blackjack, the opportunity to purchase insurance arises when the dealer's first card is an ace, he will call for insurance, it is possible to take out insurance against his hand, by laying down half of your original bet on the table. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance bet pays off at 2 to 1, thus you don't lose any money in the hand, however if the dealer does not hit a blackjack but still beats your hand, you will lose your original bet and the insurance amount.

Casino Terms "J"

Jackpot: Refers to the additional amount above the normal payout amount, this is the jackpot amount, somewhat similar to a bonus; bonuses however are generally of a smaller payout amount.

Jacks or Better: Two cards (jacks, queens, kings or aces) of the same denomination such as A A 5 10 K or J J A Q 6.

Junket: An organized group of gamblers, usually subsidized by a casino, that travel to the casino together to gamble.

Casino Terms "K"

Keno: A game where players can select up to 10 numbers from a total of 80 numbers and wager on the outcome.

Keno Counter: The counter or cashier in the casino where players can place their bets and collect winnings.

Keno Lounge: An area in a casino where keno is played.

Keno Ticket:

  1. A form a player uses for selecting the numbers he wishes to wager on
  2. A ticket which numbers has been randomly generated by a computer by the keno writer, know as a kwik pik.

Keno Writer: A casino employee who accepts player bets, and pays out winning tickets.

Kwik Pik: A keno ticket which numbers are randomly generated for the player at the players request.
