Casino Terms "G"

Gambling: Is an action a player takes when he risks an amount of money against the casino or game for a desired outcome.

Game: The dictionary term for 'game' means a contrived and structured recreational activity, there a literally hundreds of casino games available to play for free or money in both land-based and online casinos.

Gaming: Gaming encompasses many different sectors of the casino industry, such as fixed-odds gambling, horse racing, sports betting, casino games and lottery.

Garbage Hand: A terrible hand of cards of no value.

Green Chip: A name used in reference to a $25 chip.

Grind: A player to bets and makes money in small increments.

Casino Terms "H"

Hand: The cards dealt by a dealer and held by the player.

Hard Total: In blackjack, any hand where there is no ace, or the ace counts as one.

Handle: A term used that represents all the money taken in for a game, shift or day.

Hardway: In the game of craps, the opposite to easy way, four hardway combinations, 2&2, 3&3, 4&4, 5&5, you bet to win that your matched combination will come up before a 7 is rolled. Hard 4 and 10 pay 8:1 and Hard 6 and 8 pay 10:1.

Hardway Bet: In the game of craps, a bet that the matched dice combination (a pair) of either 4, 6, 8, or 10 coming up before a 7 is rolled or the easy way.

Heads Up: An expression in blackjack used when one player plays one-on-one with the dealer, when no other players are at the table.

Heat: The pressure put on a player by a casino if they suspect they are counting cards, casino personnel watching a player closely would be an indication they suspect card counting.

High Bet: This is an even money, outside bet which the player bets on 18 numbers at the same time, (19-36).

High Roller: A term for a player who wagers big money at a casino. Also referred to as a VIP.

High Roller Ticket: A keno ticket that has a high minimum purchase price.

Hit:

  1. A player's request for another card.
  2. When a drawn number matches your selected number on your keno ticket it is called a hit.

Hold Buttons: On any given video poker hand you are able to select which cards you wish to hold by pressing the hold button located under each card.

Hole-Card: A dealer's first card dealt, which is always face down.

Horn Bet: In the game of craps, a one roll bet on a combination of 2, 3, 11 & 12. A roll of 3 and 11 pay 15:1 and 2 and 12 pay 30:1.

House Edge: Refers to the advantage that a casino has over a player.
