Cage: The cashier's cage where you can buy chips or redeem them for cash your chips.

Call: To call in poker is to either match a bet or raise. If a player raises the bet and no other opponents equal or raise the player's bet, the player wins the pot and the hand is over.

Caller: A dealer who calls the game also know as a callman or croupier(french).

Capping of Bets: In blackjack if a player adds money by placing additional chips to a winning situation whilst the dealer is distracted, this is referred to as "capping a bet", this obviously is illegal.

Card Counting: A method used by some players in which all cards which are played are recorded in memory to ascertain the odds of the remaining cards in the deck favor either the player or the dealer.

Carre: In roulette a French term for corner bet.

Cash Out Button: On a slots or video poker game, if a player wishes to collect winnings or cash-out his/her position, pressing the cash-out button returns players credits to the coin tray or in some cases prints a receipt that can be cashed at the cashier or cage.

Casino: A place of business that houses a selection of gambling activities involving licensed games where players can wager on the outcome of the those games for potential profit.

Cash Limit: Refers to the limit that can be paid out in cash for keno winnings, amounts greater than this limit are paid by check.

Cash Out Button: On every video poker machine has a cash-out button that enables players to withdraw any outstanding credits in the machine, credits (usually dimes) are dumped into the player's hopper.

Casino: A place of business that houses a selection of gambling activities involving licensed games where players can wager on the outcome of the those games for potential profit.

Casino Host: A casino employee who is responsible for looking after the needs of high rollers.

Casino Host: A casino employee who is responsible for all games within the casino run smoothly.

Catch: A term that means a number marked on your keno ticket has been drawn.

Catch All: A game that requires that all numbers you have marked on your keno ticket to be drawn.

Catch Zero: The opposite of catch all, the keno game requires you to catch none of the marked numbers on your ticket.

Charles Fey: Credited by many as the inventor of the original slot machines (one-armed bandit) produced back in 1887, later in 1891 Sittman and Pitt manufactured 5 drum machines which had similar features of the machines today.

Chemin de fer: In the game of baccarat, Chemin de fer is a French term which means "railway" which is another name used by players, you cannot bet on Player or Bank, (Punto or Banco) you must bet on one or the other. The casino does not have any direct involvement in the bets placed as players wager amongst them.

Chemmy: In the game of baccarat a slang term short for chemin de fer.

Cheval: In game of roulette a french term for a split bet.

Chips: A term for tokens issued by the casino used instead for money.

Close: In keno, normally just prior to a draw the casino stops writting tickets and closes-out the game until after the draw.

Coin or Note Slot: Most slot machines will have two options for depositing money into the machine via either a coin slot (generally quarters) or note denominations from $1 and up.

Cold Dice: In the game of craps, dice that do not pass.

Color Change: The changing of chips into smaller or larger denominations.

Column Bet: In the game of roulette, this is a bet on one of the three vertical columns of 12 numbers on the table layout. You place your chips on one of the three corresponding boxes at the bottom of the 12 vertical numbers you wish to wager on, you collect if any one of those 12 numbers win, it pays 2:1.

Come Bet: In craps refers to a bet placed after the come-out roll that the dice will pass.

Come Box: The craps layout area where the come bet is placed.

Come Out Roll: The first roll of the dice in craps is called the come out roll.

Coming Out: A term used in the game of craps to let players know that a come out roll is about to happen.

Commission: A 5% charge imposed on all winning bank bets.

Complete Hand: In poker, a term used to refer to the following hands, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, or a straight.

Computer Ticket: A computer generated keno ticket, as opposed to numbers selected by a player.

Corner Bet: In the game of roulette, a bet on four numbers, also known as a square bet or quarter bet and pays 8:1 odds.

Cover: A term used in baccarat (also known as fade) that is used when a customer chooses to cover all or part of the bank bet.

Craps: A term used for the numbers 2, 3 or 12 and is also the name of the game.

Craps Out: In craps a term used for rolling a 2, 3 or 12 on the come out roll. A loser for pass line bettors.

Credit: On a video poker machine credits are allocated or represents the cash value of the money cashed into the machine, for example on a 25 cent machine, 25 cents represents 1 credit so a deposit of say $10 will allocate 40 credits to the machine.

Credit Amount: On a slots game, the credit amount indicates the current amount of players credit available to gamble in the machine, this amount fluctuates as the spin button is pressed and the player either wins or looses.

Crew:

  1. A casino term for the employees that staff the games tables at the casino.
  2. In the game of craps the employees that staff the craps table, these include two dealers, a boxman and stickman.

Croupier: A French term for the English word dealer.

Cut Card: A solid coloured plastic card used to cut the deck.
